Anatomy of a Photo: Sleepless in Belgium
I’ve got a fever, and the only prescription is more Rule #5.
Thanks to Michael for bringing this matter to our attention.

I’m seeing a cycle here for the compact debate. Maybe about every three months or so it surfaces. Gianni’s reflections on his switch are eagerly awaited. As for me 50/34 and 11/23 on numero uno, 53/39 and 12/23 on numero dos, 50/34 and 12/25 on cross.
@Marko, @sgt, @Gianni
I just put on a 56/55 and swapped my cassette out for a 4-11.
It’s almost as if Radioshack was excited by the challenge of coming up with an even uglier design concept than that strapless-dress design from last year.
closer and closer…
Quick Step has good team chemistry, I think.
Okay! Tomeke ties for 5th in the prologue today in Qatar! Now I do not want to read too much into a 3K ITT Prologue but I soooo hope he either gets his 3rd Flanders or 4th P-R this Spring (or both!). GOOOOO Tomeke!!!
Tomeke!!! Cannot wait for the full stage results! (Yes, I realize it is only Qatar but come on, the form looks GOOD!!!)
@Buck Rogers
There is truth to “it is only Qatar”. But, that’s where the who’s who is racing this week. Fun to see all the big boy names in the race report.
@Marko
My HUGE fear all winter has been how is Boonen going to come into this season after the injury and surgery last year. Great to see him outkicking all the big hitters in the sprint, Cancellara as well as Steegmans, Eisel, Renshaw, Bennati, O’Grady, Flecha, Hunt, Haussler, Hammond, Klier, Van Summeren (Garmin-Cervélo) and Burghard. Let’s hope this is a harbinger of the Spring Classics!
@Buck Rogers
Great stage this morning. Boonen looked really strong. And, I’m happy to see Haussler ride well after his disastrous 2010 season.
I know it’s the very beginning of the season, but you have to wonder what’s going on in the Garmin-Cervelo and Lay-Oh-Pard Trek buses after that fiasco. They made the selection with multiple riders each, but Boonen was still able to snatch the win. Kudos to Boonen, but, really: that shouldn’t have happened. Good to see Flecha and Rollin in the final group, though.
