December 6th is possibly the biggest holiday of the year for the Dutch. We put out our shoe, we write gedichten, we play pranks on each other, and we exchange gifts. As luck would have it, the good old Sint made a stop by the Velominati Headquarters in Seattle and left me an absurdly large bottle of dry lube; the the point where I felt like I need to explain what it is for. (I use a lot of that stuff, you know, on my chain – because I ride in the rain every day this time of year. I swear.)
Take a dive into the archives and have a look at our 2010 article on the subject for a full background on why December 6th is the real Christmas and why the Dutch (and I assume at least the Belgians) rule so much harder at holidays than the rest of the world, except maybe the Jewish community, since they figured out how to make the gift-giving last an entire month and everyone knows that’s pretty hard-core.
In any case, from the bottom of my heart, thanks to everyone in our humble little community, and I wish you each a Gelukkig Sinterklaas.

Back at ya!
And the best of the season to you and all the Velominati too!
Definately starting to feel the Christmas spirit now it has turned colder here....watched "Its a Wonderful World" last night.....still absolute quality!
Feliz Navidid (that's how we say it here in Southern California).
Thanks man. Happy holidays to everyone.
@farzani Brilliant! Here in the UK we have to wait another 19 days! (cue sobbing)
Merry, merry Frank and all the Dutch infected Velominati (and I say that with love)!
And that is just the best image of you drafting Sinterklass in the pro elf kit... ( or whatever it might be in the convoluted Dutch mind).
Sinterklass brought some green from Amsterdam this year:

Ah yes, the holiday season! I'm actually excited about it this year for the first time in a few years. The past few I've been in a foul mood because the year was ending & I had to face the music and accept that again I'd done more bike riding than graduate work. This year I've found a nice balance & it feels great. Oh, I'm not Peaking, but for me it's kind of "Who gives a fuck?" I'm finally closing in on finishing, graduating, and getting that all important well-paying job to afford bike goodies! Went to a Christmas concert at the uni on Tuesday night & got lucky and sub taught yesterday and it was their yearly holiday concert. Nice! The VMH and I also constructed a holiday tree out of bamboo since we live near a local copse of trees. Free & looks pretty good, since she did the work.
Oh, and my housemate pal is having a dual birthday/End of World party on 12/20 and into 12/21. As good a reason as any to get lots of work done in the next couple of weeks!
Happy holiday season Followers! And Keepers!!
@Ron
Does your VMH know about this???
