I got your Seattle sea coast. Hangin'
Assorted lids, 1982 style, giving it some V. Auker with excellent poker face.
Found this and others here: http://bikeportland.org/2011/02/03/photographer-captured-vibrant-era-of-portland-bike-racing-47270. Enjoy.
Hmm, who knew POC helmets had a long lost cousin out there! That's what Auker's lid looks like to me.

This is a photo from the Portland International Raceway in Oregon, early 80s of my old teammate and dear friend David Auker. Riding a Strawberry, handbuilt in Portland. David is a great guy and cycling legend around here. Won the Circuit race on Mt Tabor (5000 ft climbing in 35 mi) in FOUR DIFFERENT DECADES (70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s). National Masters Cross Champ in 89 or so. Quite a character, won our District TT in 91 with a "disc" wheel he made w Mylar from a model shop. Had a stroke while riding years ago, very sad, and now lives in Corvallis. His helmet is a Skid Lid, I had one on my noggin from 83-85 or so. Second photo Mike Murray, founder of the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association, leads, he was an ace track rider and brought 6 day racing back to America at Alpenrose. Best,
Dave Campbell

It was called a "skid lid" in the US. Saw one on the head of a 'vintage' rider just the other day.
