The bicycle of Gert Steegmans in the 2015 Ghent-Wevelgem
Deinze – Wevelgem really but Gent sounds correct, like Het Volk. Last year’s windy wet edition was a pretty awesome race except Luca Paolini won it wearing tights (FFS!?) and maybe high on Italian marching powder. Riders were leaning into the wind and being blown off the road. It was awesome to watch maybe not so awesome to race.
Tony Martin will be lining up as he prepares for a Spring Classics campaign. If you have Ronde van Vlaanderen dreams you best ride this and see how the gun prep has gone. Tomeke, Faboo, it should be a proper battle.
Here is the start list and it is impressive. Let us hope the Belgian weather is true to form. The prize list is equally impressive and after that weird Milan-Sanremo finish, no VSP savants are crushing it yet. So do some stretches, limber up, if you need to unload some bad choices (H. Haussler), get those out of your system now before the real races begin.

Still not quite happy
VSP PICKS:
I can't help but think that the World Champion is out front animating races this early season in a way that he expects will have him better prepared for P-R. It is one bad mo-fo that can attack t/o, drive winning selections and breaks, gap up and pull folks along, and race largely void of team mates, and podium a pile of 2nds.
Contrast his racing now with his race in Richmond.
He's just getting warmed up. Having fun. With a little bit of good fortune on his side, he will win P-R. He is a crafty racer.
I'm also sure everyone has noted his well maintained guns. No surprise there.
I was thinking sprinters for tomorrow. Windy though could leave some folks caught out. Hmmm...

CyclingNews reports that Bouhanni will ride Gent-Wevelgem.
I'm not overly fond of M. Bouhanni, personally. What's the general view of him among the Velominati?

@wilburrox
I would love a P-R win from him.
I am always astounded by the lack of support that Sagan has from his team. Where's the squad, in stealth mode? All through last summer it was, "Go get results. No, the team's riding for Contador." Even at the World's he was largely a man alone (though for different reasons.)
The guy can definitely land some second place finishes, but I also feel like he experiences this, "What about a win? What about a win? What about a win?" hectoring that other riders don't get.
Quick change up
