The Women’s road race has to be my favorite one-day road race after Paris-Roubaix and de Ronde van Vlaanderen. Those two races are obviously on a pedestal that no mortal race could ever hope to achieve.
But what I love about those classics is also what I love about the women’s road race: unpredictability. Set over a tough course, the girls are sure to make an interesting race around Bergen – especially with powerhouse riders like Mary V and Queen Lizzy being on the comeback trail and lacking some of their usual dominance.
So start your engines, check the start list, and good luck.

Errrr . . . 4th runner up . . . of course!
Great to see that the new Women's Elite Road Race Champion adheres to Rule #13. The V is clearly with her.
Kudos to Ms. Blaak and to her teammates. The Cycling news feed reported that Van der Breggen and Van Vlueten controlled the pack to ensure a Dutch World Championship. That has to be tough for the two biggest favorites but is great teamwork.
Chapeau to the Dutch women's team!
